National Executive Committee

The NEC is the highest decision-making body of GSAW between Conventions, responsible for strategic direction, oversight, and governance (Article 10).

Head and chief directing officer of GSAW. Presents comprehensive statements on the state of the nation and outlines party policy. Makes pronouncements on behalf of the NEC.

Assists and deputises for the President. Carries out functions entrusted by Convention, President, or NEC.

Presides over National Convention. Custodian of decisions. Operates within parameters of policy set out by Convention.

Assists and deputises for the Chairperson. Ensures governance procedures are followed at all levels.

Chief administrative officer. Keeps minutes, conducts correspondence, conveys decisions and instructions to provincial structures. Full-time functionary.

Chief custodian of funds and property. Manages banking, financial reporting, budgets, and fund raising activities.

NEC Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic Direction

Set the party's overall vision, mission, and goals. Drive out decisions and instructions of the National Convention.

Oversight & Governance

Monitor party activities, ensure compliance with party policies, and make decisions on key issues. Ensure structures function effectively.

Policy Development

Develop and review party policies, ensuring alignment with GSAW values and Biblical principles.

Leadership Development

Identify, train, and mentor future leaders across all structures from branch to national level.

Financial Management

Oversee financial management, budgeting, and reporting. Ensure transparency and accountability of all party funds.

Communication

Ensure effective communication with members, stakeholders, and the public. No public statements without NEC consultation.

Party Structures

National Convention

Supreme policy-making body. 95% delegates from active branch members. Elects the NEC. Meets every 5 years (first in 2026).

Provincial Structures

Provincial Convention elects the PEC. Manages party affairs in each of the 9 provinces. PEC meets regularly under NEC guidance.

Regional Structures

PEC divides provinces into regions. Regional executive committees are accountable to the PEC for their functioning.

Branches

Basic unit of the party. Minimum 20 members. Meet at least monthly. Branch executive meets fortnightly.

Women's League

Open to all women members. Defends and advances the rights of women against all forms of national, social and gender oppression. Autonomous body with own constitution.

Youth League

Open to persons aged 16–35. Unites and leads young men and women in confronting problems facing the youth. Members over 18 participate in full political life.
