NEC Policy Framework Released

The GSAW National Executive Committee (NEC) has formally adopted its policy framework document, establishing clear rules for NEC membership, meetings, dress code, WhatsApp group management, and member conduct.

Purpose of the NEC Policy

The NEC is the highest decision-making body of GSAW, responsible for providing strategic direction, oversight, and governance. This policy outlines the structure, roles, and responsibilities led by the President and Deputy President.

Key Provisions

NEC Membership Fee

All NEC members shall pay an annual membership fee of R200, due on or before 30 September each year. Payments may be made in instalments or in full and shall be recorded by both the Secretary General and Treasurer General.

NEC Composition

The NEC consists of: National Chairperson, Deputy National Chairperson, Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, National Treasurer, Head of Provinces, and additional members providing expertise in Theology & Ministry, Policy & Research, Communications, Membership & Outreach, Youth Affairs, and Women's Affairs.

Meeting Rules

Dress Code

All NEC members shall wear formal or semi-formal attire during face-to-face meetings. Only the GSAW T-Shirt is acceptable if choosing casual wear.

Prohibitions

Contributions

NEC members agree to contribute to whatever is requested by meeting resolutions. Each member should recruit at least 1 new member per week (target: 5 per week).

"By adopting this policy, GSAW establishes a clear framework for its NEC structure, ensuring effective governance, leadership, and decision-making." — NEC Policy, Section 13

This policy may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the NEC, subject to review and approval by the national convention. It shall be reviewed at least every two years.
